The old water mill set in a building of the XII° Century, has began functioning again according to the Umbrian rural usage of the XVII° Century, the small museum and the recently restored apartments, are the right setting for exclusive and pleasant holidays.
The mill is quite secluted while easly reachable and not far from important ancient Roman Road the "Flaminia".


It is also very close to the northern and southern "Superstrada E45" exits and to the main roads that go across Umbria from Todi to Assisi and from Terni to Perugia.
"Molanoce" is the cartographical place-name to identify the place where the walnuts were crushed to produce oil for votive lamps, now surrounded by evocative Umbrian landscape it is able to mill grain to make flour as it used to be in the XVII° Century.


In the surroundings from 1 to 10 km: The Fossile-Forest of Dunarobba, Carsulae an ancient Roman city descovered in the 1800, The Castles of Casigliano, Sismano and Mezzanelli, The Benedictines Abbeys of Villa S. Faustino, of S.Fidenzio and Terenzio, S. Illuminata and S. Maria in Pantano, The Christian-Roman Catacombs of the III° Century b.c., The Roman Bridge of "Fonnaia", The Baths of Sangemini and Sanfaustino.
From 10 to 40 km: Perugia-Assisi-Spoleto-Todi-Orvieto-Montefalco-Deruta-Torgiano.
"Marmore" Waterfalls at 30 Km. and Lake Trasimeno at 50 Km.
The surroundings are famous for producing olive-oil, cheese, mushroooms, truffles and wine such as Grechetto and Sagrantino.


The mill of Molanoce premises are available for guided tours only Sunday afternoons and each third Saturday

Guest facilities include outdoor tables, barbecue; there is also an information service for excursions and sightseeing for Umbria.
At Molanoce German and English is fluently spoken.

 
THE ANCIENT HAYLOFT

An old place to shelter hay, beside the Mill, restored with the combination of iron, wood, cork and stone, has become an elegant room to show some interesting and old objects of Umbrian family.

 
THE MANGER


The old stall now entertains, in an atmosphere minimalist but warm, an ample studio apartment with a characteristic loft, once refuge of the hays.

 
THE FOOTPRINTS

Attached to the "Mill of Molanoce", a small and characteristic umbrian environment. A stream of water flowing trough the garden makes this a place of meditation and peace.

 
THE HOPPER

This was the ancient Storehouse where the sacks of corn were placed and afterwards emptied out throungh the trap-door into the hopper below. Now it is a studio-library.
